this timeline takes the base of the resident evil universe and reimagines it following the events of resident evil three. in this setting, many characters (who originally appeared later in the series and have now been brought in earlier) ages have been altered, the story has been adapted into a modern setting, and imagines a world where the public discovered the hidden truths of the how and why raccoon city destruction occurred within months of it's destruction and how that would impact the world going forward. the setting takes many liberties storyline wise in terms of the chain of events of early canon, alterations to some of the organizations from canon, and altering some canon events. this is very much a timeline that, while staying true to the essence of resident evil and the characterization of characters, goes in new original directions due to changes made while still blending canon elements into the story.in this version of events terrasave and the bsaa were never formed yet other organizations such as the radicalized group known as terracore and the blue umbrella alliance rose in their place and not all seeking the greater good.in addition, months after the destruction of raccoon city, a reimagined version of the division of security operations (dso) with both agent operatives and a militarized division is created and most core characters of the story are connected with it in various roles. further, following the discovery of the government's involvement with umbrella in early 2020, the president resigned, leading to president graham's election upon a campaign devoted to righting the wrongs of the past. this verse has a strong exploration of the political impact of biohazard events and leans into themes related to in-verse politics (west wing type vibes at times), espionage, cover-ups, outbreaks & genetic research, a military/governmental setting, and stopping those involved in bioterror; this is explored more fully given that most characters as depicted in this timeline's setting have a connection to political figures and events surrounding their decisions through the dso.importantly, this verse still features the angst, elements of corruption, and disturbing nature of bio-organic weapons which can present in the form of zombies of canon resident evil but also holds a more hopeful overall air, partly due to the fact most of the original characters of the series remain closely connected through work and personally within their relationships and dynamics (such as claire/leon and jill/chris establishing relationships early in the timeline) and a focus on a time frame when figures such as president graham and future president adam benford are in powerful positions, them not being corrupt and seeking to do good and put an end to the corruption around them. this verse explores how this impacts the characters as events play out.

 
this timeline focuses on an earlier timeframe in the core characters' lives, with most being in their mid-late twenties in 2024 and due to the advanced nature of technology(as compared to the original canon beginning in the 90s) and other factors, the events from canon that are canon to this timeline being accelerated and reimagined. for quick general reference, games 1-3 + s.t.a.r.s. missions from the books transpire in 2019, the reimagined events of game 4 which takes place in spain transpires in 2022, and the verse begins in 2024 (though as time passes and we write more, the time of verse present will move forward). some events have been shifted in terms of when they take place and how or by who they transpire and original elements are brought into this timeline.
 

 
below you will find some basic information about the differences in canon this verse incorporates for ease of interaction with muses taking part in this timeline which is open to anyone but does feature an ongoing, base canon with those 'canon' to it.

☣ the spencer mansion incident and subsequent fall and destruction of raccoon city transpires in 2019 rather than 1998. events play out in a kind of blending of the remakes and darkside chronicles, with the difference that more reports and videos make it to media sources than in the original and some of these early reports are not flattering to umbrella. that said, umbrella does cause a cell and internet black out in the area very quickly which cuts the city off from communication with much of the outside world with the exception of older methods such as as land lines which were not as prevalent anymore. in addition, claire and leon were rarely separated during the events of the night in raccoon except for a few keys times and jill and leon knew each other prior, being godsiblings and, jill knowing leon was due to be in the city when the outbreak hit the fan, left leon coded messages to find much like chris' letter to claire had.

☣ six months after raccoon city is wiped off the map, in march 2020, the government's involvement with umbrella which lead to the outbreak incident is exposed BY A MASSIVE INFORMATION LEAK. with the public in an uproar, the president resigns and a special election is held with john graham running and winning the presidency and presenting a mission of a new administration which seeks to weed out corruption and right the wrongs of the past in as much as can be.he names adam benford as his national security advisor and director of the new dso agency tasked with bringing down rogue elements of umbrella still in operation and finding any elements of the viruses that may have gotten out of raccoon before it's fall. given the public now being aware of umbrella's wrongs (to a point), the raccoon trials which took years in canon are accelerated though evidence and testimony still take time.while umbrella falls (though many rogue agents flood the market), it eventually manages to recover in a new form, rebranding as blue umbrella on a similar platform as president graham used to win the election, that it wants to right the wrongs of the past. still, many are still distrustful.

☣ as a general note, ages of some characters have been altered. this is primarily seen with ashley graham and samuel benford (oc) who are made the same age as claire redfield and rebecca chambers, and helena harper who is made the same age as leon kennedy. furthermore, helena does not join the cia, rather is recruited directly into the dso in 2022 and claire, having changed her major from lit to political science and transferred universities, became roommates with ashley, the tw and rebecca becoming friends both due to this and due to knowing some of the same people as leon became close with the president, her father, as he worked for him and claire and leon established a romantic relationship in the aftermath of raccoon as do chris and jill.

☣ by march of 2023, claire redfield is working as the executive assistant to national security advisor/dso director adam benford who is heading the final charge against umbrella's rogue agents and the black market sale of viruses.☣ by the end of the month, chris redfield and jill valentine conduct a dso raid on a mansion thought to house lord spencer of umbrella. during this, they encounter albert wesker and jill and wesker go through a window when jill knocks them out of it to save chris. no bodies are found and while resistant at first, the dso begins efforts to find them on the assumption one or both survived, using their advanced resources and the support of the president to push through these efforts. chris redfield leads this operation and old friends including barry, john, rebecca, and david return to help along with cathy, claire, and leon.☣ with the antibodies in jill's blood at his disposal (from her previous infection), wesker's experiments on jill valentine and his new virus are more accelerated than in original canon and his experiments and brainwashing on jill begins immediately.

☣ in the months after the events in west africa, jill valentine begins a period of treatments and recovery to cure her of the virus which infected her and helps her through her ptsd suffered due to what was done to her by wesker. through the help and support of chris and her friends such as leon, claire, rebecca, and cathy and the early release of her father from jail, jill works hard to recover. though the mental toll takes longer to recover from, jill is allowed to return to limited duty (with the plan to go back to full duty eventually) after a few months when the virus is fully purged from her system.
 

[this timetable is heavily altered from canon and in terms of her treatment this is due to more advanced technology and resources and mentally jill having a larger support system though she will always be affected mentally by her time being brainwashed.]
 

☣ given wesker's death and the last of umbrella's rogue agents being brought to justice, an easing of seventeen-year-old sherry birkin's protective custody goes into effect to a point though given the antibodies in her blood she remains under government monitoring.☣ by july of 2024, ashley graham joins the dso as an agent, having been driven by seeing claire and leon in action in spain and witnessing reports of the panic that transpired in 2022 and finally secured agreement from her father and completed her own training.☣ by September, fbi profiler patrick mulder transfers to the dso after being inspired by his younger brother finley's passion to study medicine and want to work to make cures and vaccines for the people afflicted by bioterror.

☣ the missions by members of s.t.a.r.s both local and elsewhere + later leon and claire begin as they did in the novels, just after the events of the spencer incident under the direction of trent. this includes the missions of: david, rebecca, john + others to maine | cathy with resources | chris and barry in europe | claire, leon, david, rebecca, and john in utah | jill in austria | john, david, and rebecca in england | claire, leon, cathy + other s.t.a.r.s mebers in paris | and the events of code veronica. a key note of difference from the novels is that sherry remained with them through paris.

☣ leon, sherry, & claire get captured by u.s. operatives overseas soon after chris brings her back to paris to regroup with the others who are also apprehended soon after. they are brought back to the united states and both claire and leon are forced into deals with the government given their desire to protect each other and sherry a factor in gaining their agreement. sherry is taken into protective custody and placed with derek c simmons though part of their deals ensures they will be able to visit her. simmons manages leon's deal and is more coercive in his tactics while then-director of the cia adam benford organizes claire's deal and proves concerned with her safety. leon is forced to go to training to become an operative of the government while claire is placed in a semi-state of protection from forces like umbrella and wesker who might seek to harm her and is allowed to return to college under the agreement she works for the government following this given she and leon are some of the few that have had experience and lived to tell the tale with the things seen in raccoon. soon after, the falsely accused fugitive members of s.t.a.r.s. that had been conducting covert operations against umbrella are found and recruited into the beginnings of a new government agency, the dso.

☣ by may 2022, claire redfield and ashley graham are due to graduate university, claire having also recently conducted an internship at the white house during her senior year of college as part of her work study. however, ashley and claire's transport to graduation is attacked and the two kidnapped by leon's old colleague jack krauser. meanwhile, spy Ada Wong was sent to Valdelobos, spain by trent and his agency to retrieve a sample of the Amber and the research notes involving it her also dealing with wesker who ada knows is beginning to work against trent and the agency, her intending to give what she gathers to the highest bidder. soon after, ashley and claire arrive.days later, after discovering intel on ashley and claire's location, Leon Kennedy is sent on a mission to rescue them from a secluded European village where there is something terribly wrong with the locals who have been infected by las plagas. there leon encounters a former umbrella scientist luis at various times, finds claire who he works together with to protect and save ashley, encounters ada wong, and discovers his jack was behind the kidnapping. most base events play similarly to the game four with some key differences, such as the obvious claire and leon working together to protect ashley, luis surviving, and leon bringing the wolf-dog that helped him in spain back to the states after defeating saddler and curing them all from the las plagas.as for ada, deciding that wesker's plans for las plagas were too extreme even for her, ada brings the virus to trent who destroys it, however, wesker still manages to get a hold of samples.

☣ by august of that same year, the terragrigia panic transpires, which was a name that was given by the media with regards to a bioterrorist attack caused by Il Veltro, which was responsible for releasing the T-Abyss virus on the floating city of Terragrigia and had massive global news coverage showing people horrific mutations for the first time on a large scale (as actual video and pictures from raccoon city were limited even in the data leak previously).

☣ by January of 2024, president graham is running for reelection and is facing touch opponents in the race.by February, helena harper is on a temporary suspension from the dso pending an investigation of her shooting of her sister's abusive boyfriend; she is reinstated by the end of march.☣ by april, rumors of bioterrorism in africa and possible intel on wesker is passed to the dso. MEANWHILE, graham runs a campaign largely on a platform of fighting against bioterrorism.

☣ by the end of may Chris Redfield is dispatched to Kijuju in West Africa where he teams up with Sheva Alomar and the two attempt to apprehend Ricardo Irving before he can sell a BOW on the black market having been clued in by dso agents who had infiltrated the area been were later killed. this also coincides with information the dso has gathered that indicate wesker could be in the area meaning a lead toward jill could also be found. When they arrive, they discover that the locals have been infected by the Las Plagas. saved by one of the dso's delta teams, which includes Sheva's mentor Captain Josh Stone, chris sees a photograph of Jill Valentine showing him that they are on the right track.Chris, Sheva and Delta Team close in on Irving, but he escapes with the aid of a hooded figure that they later encounter again in a conflict with irving near oilfields; irving mutates and is defeated. led to a cave, they discover evidence that Tricell took over a former Umbrella underground laboratory and continued Umbrella's research. In the facility, they discover thousands of capsules holding human test subjects. Chris finds Jill's capsule, but it is empty. When they leave, they discover that Tricell CEO Excella Gionne has been plotting with Wesker to launch missiles with the Uroboros virus across the globe; it is eventually revealed that Wesker hopes to take a chosen few from the chaos of infection and rule them, creating a new breed of humanity.Chris and Sheva pursue Gionne but are stopped by Wesker and the hooded figure, who is revealed to be a brainwashed Jill. Gionne and Wesker escape to a Tricell oil tanker; Chris and Sheva fight Jill, subduing her and removing the mind-control device before she urges Chris to follow Wesker. Chris and Sheva board the tanker and encounter Gionne, who escapes and later mutates into a monster. Jill later radios in, telling Chris and Sheva that Wesker must take precise, regular doses of a serum to maintain his strength and speed and Sheva realizes that Gionne's syringes are doses of the drug. Chris and Sheva follow Wesker to a bomber loaded with missiles containing the Uroboros virus, injecting him with the syringes Gionne dropped. Wesker tries to escape on the bomber; Chris and Sheva disable it, making him crash-land in a volcano. Furious‚ Wesker exposes himself to Uroboros fights Chris and Sheva over a volcano which results in wesker's death.

in canon, we see that the dso is an anti-bioterrorism agency under the control of the united states president that was formed following the fall of umbrella and employed cia-like operatives. in a base form, this remains true in this timeline however is altered and reimagined into something more multi-faceted. in this timeline, it essentially becomes a cross-breed of what the canon bsaa and dso was with influences of the fbc becoming part of it in this version of events and having operatives and soldiers from it's militarized division working together in the field. in this timeline, the dso was also formed almost directly in the aftermath of the bombing of raccoon city and is a primary force against umbrella, blue umbrella, and various corruptions within the government and bioterror groups. while bioterror is the primary issue the dso deals with much like in canon, operatives are sometimes loaned to other agencies to aid in other types of investigations.
 

the dso remains an American anti-bioterrorism agency under the jurisdiction of the United States federal government but has granted jurisdictional and operational rights during bioterrorism incidents by the united nations. while the united nations also granted other organizations operational rights such as the blue umbrella alliance to be on site during incidents of bioterror, the DSO tended to be given preferential treatment as an organization. their field agents are trained in various areas and skills to help them on missions to infiltrate and uncover potential dangers of bioterror and combat it. they also have a militarized branch within their ranks which features soldiers of all ranks capable of being dispatched to areas bioterror incidents have begun to aid in stopping these incidents.both the agent and military branches often work closely together though it is usually the agent branch which conducts the initial infiltration during incidents. it can be noted that trent enterprises is the main supplier of weapons and vaccines to the dso.while the concept of the organization was formed almost immediately after the bombing of raccoon city, it was officially established six months later after the truth about the government's involvement with umbrella was discovered and a special election puts president graham into office who campaigned on righting the wrongs of the past and protecting the nation against the rising tide of bioterror.in this timeline, the dso takes on the additional role of the canon anti-umbrella task force (hunting down rouge elements from old umbrella who were still conducting research and experiments and selling viruses) and the fbc (their priorities were tackling the sale of Umbrella bioweapons on the black market, which may be acquired by domestic terrorists with oversight by the National Security Council). as such events of revelations are reformulated and members of the fbc became rouge members of the dso who were arrested and an internal investigation conducted to root out any further elements of corruption attempting to claim their ranks.the agency serves at the pleasure of the president and is directed on his behalf by the national security advisor and director of the dso adam benford (who previously was director of the cia). operationally, under benford is deputy director of the dso clive o'brian who dictates many of the day-to-day missions which transpire within the agency and is helped by benford's executive assistant (as of 2022) claire redfield.

a reimagining and expansion of the concept of blue umbrella.
 

we see in the later games that blue umbrella rose from the ashes of umbrella and slowly corrupted the bsaa from the inside out over years and resulted in it's use of using bioweapons to combat bioweapons. in this timeline, the bua explores what an organization might look like with umbrella involvement from the beginning and with the ability of modern campaigns to further their seemingly good cause through social media. on the surface, it seems blue umbrella seeks to right the wrongs of the past and combat bioterrorism threats, offer aid, and develop vaccines and inoculations. but are they really the good guys or is it all part of a cover? in this verse, the blue umbrella alliance slowly rises to become a key villain within the story, though how many years it will take characters to see it and prove their suspicions is unknown.
 

after the public discovery in 2020 of umbrella's unethical experiments, cover ups, and the governments involvement with them Umbrella was banned from conducting business within the United States, and a class-action lawsuit on behalf of the victims' families of raccoon city went underway. This case, dubbed the "Raccoon Trials", took place within 2020 and 2021 also, initially coinciding with the special presidential election which elected president graham. as a result, Umbrella was found criminally liable and international orders for the arrest of executives were made to be enacted by the president's new dso agency. Umbrella Pharmaceuticals declared bankruptcy, with its subsidiaries following suit over 2021. While some may have been acquired by other companies, the controversial nature meant that in the case of Umbrella Japan, no buyer could be found, and it was instead liquidated.Following the 2022 Terragrigia and Spanish Outbreak Incidents the threat of bioterrorist groups acquiring such weaponry intensified and aiming for a new stage in the ongoing War on Terror, Chapter 11 Reorganization was invoked on Umbrella U.S.A.'s assets and the company was restructured into an organization under a new executive team consisting of former employees trusted by the US government. In its revived form, Umbrella U.S.A. changed the logo to blue to indicate its separation from its predecessor -red- to the public but the company still kept a portion of the original name to make it clear to the public that they are cleaning up the mess started by the original Umbrella Corporation as atonement. Tasked with assisting in the War on Terror using the Umbrella Archives obtained by the government, Blue Umbrella began studying effective means of tackling B.O.W.s, creating vaccines and inoculations, and conducting relief efforts on site during and after incidents of bio-terror.However, they were forbidden from reactivating their security force (them partnered with organizations such as the military branch of the dso) or conducting research on the development of anything not related to preventive or treatment research. due to their multifaceted goal as well as their partnership with other organizations to achieve this, they added 'alliance' into their name to better show that they meant to be an ally to those seeking to stop bio-terror. they also became one of two main suppliers of global vaccines to organizations (the other being their rival trent enterprises) such as the united nations, countries, and others though, while the dso and american government personnel have at times been provided with weapons and occasionally inoculations from blue umbrella when their main supplier did not have what was needed, they maintain a greater distance from any true connections or influences with or from the company as the united states is tasked with an oversight role of covert observation to ensure blue umbrella remains on their new path.it is blue umbrella (the bua) in this timeline, rather than terrasave (which doesn't exist) which is often onsite during and in the aftermath of bio-terror incidents providing relief efforts. as such it appears they are on course. however, there are some who rightly believe there are some within the blue umbrella alliance which hold true to previous views of the old umbrella and seek to use the data gathered from their work toward dark goals and covert research that is being hidden from company oversight and used by shell companies.

trent enterprises (company) & the agency

terracore (organization)

trent enterprises is an original creation for this timeline but is run by a canon character seen minimally in prime canon and explored more in the sd perry novels who has been expanded upon in an original fashion for this timeline. the agency is influenced by the agency as the books talk of trent being high level within it/rival organization of canon, both being expanded into a semi-original concept for this timeline.
 

trent enterprises is a company made up of various subsidiaries revolving around medical research and treatment, anti-bioorganic weapons development, pharmaceuticals, and medical technology. it's subsidiaries include trent biotech which is a division for researching and developing new medical procedures and systems. It works closely with trent Pharmaceuticals and trent medical. it can be noted that trent medical and trent biotech have different fields of study and work with trent medical more focused on treating illnesses than researching them. trent pharmaceuticals develops and distributes vaccines and inoculations. another division of the company is trent industries which focuses on research and development of weapons, mainly focused on weapons that can be used against bio-organic creatures but also typical weapons as those are under contract with the government from them.the ceo of trent enterprises is "victor trent" though little is known to the public about him and he remains a mysterious figure. in truth, his real identity (known only to him) is victor darius, the son of wronged scientists james trenton darius and helen black who worked for and were killed by umbrella when they wanted to help the world with a new medical innovation and umbrella felt threatened by it. victor then changed his name and set about a mission to infiltrate umbrella and take them down from the inside, becoming a key member of white umbrella. while inside, he covertly formed the agency which was a secret group of people, spies, and mercenaries trent utilized to gather information about umbrella, manipulate events, and infiltrate facilities. to further this agenda, trent hired spy ada wong to infiltrate umbrella and to find and possibly kill a reporter, shared information with umbrella mercenary Carlos Olivera, monitored claire redfield and leon kennedy in raccoon city, directed fugitive s.t.a.r.s. members + claire & leon on missions against umbrella, and saved albert wesker from raccoon city with plans for him to aid in trent's agendas however wesker would turn a portion of trent's mercenary forces against him and form his own military group.intending to lead his personal rebellion against umbrella, trent's plans were altered after the public discovered the truth about umbrella and the government recruited many of his operatives. trent still aided covertly with information and used his resources to build trent enterprises which would become a main rival to the reformed and restructured blue umbrella. notably, trent enterprises holds multiple government contracts. trent also maintains, covertly, a small force that is still known as 'the agency' which he uses for his own agendas and to monitor blue umbrella lest they follow in their predecessors footsteps. it can also be noted that trent, while his company seeks to do good in his parents honor and he has proven to care about some people's wellbeing such as leon kennedy, claire redfield, and jill valentine and want to ultimately do good, is a man willing to do whatever he needs to for his own agendas including have people killed for what he sees as the greater good and out of vengeance. often, he uses the agency to spy on or steal from other companies he suspects are up to no good with the intentions to destroy them. canonly, wesker has even been seen to fear him.

we see in canon that terrasave is a good though sometimes extreme organization which had access to various incidents. in this timeline, we explore a 'what if' scenario of what a bad version would look like in a world where terrasave never formed but instead the radicalized terrorist group terracore did.
 

terracore was formed by curtis miller in the aftermath of raccoon city's destruction and largely focuses on medical-related incidents, monitoring medication distribution and government involvement and funding to companies, organizing mass and often violent protests against corporations and governments, and stopping unethical methods of drug development and research which they seem to believe is a result of the government's involvement with companies doing research, in part, perhaps, due to the government's former support of umbrella having led to the development of bioweapons.often, terracore forms the extreme belief that any partnerships between corporations and the government will result in the development of bioweapons and will result in unethical experiments on people that the government will cover up or that many more corporations are involved in dangerous research than are. this extreme take lacks the acknowledgement that many companies are conducting ethical research and research is needed, including research on viruses, to create vaccines and treatments for existing viruses and that some government involvement aids in this purpose. it can be granted that some base elements of their beliefs are true, that there is corruption and the like but refuses to see this is not always the case.had they sought peaceful means, terracore may have been able to be a force for good, however, they have taken extreme measures including attacks upon company headquarters and government sites and sometimes inadvertently caused outbreaks or stopped the delivery of vaccines in these attacks which have left many dead due to their belief they are 'stopping something worse' or 'exposing' a vaccine as something it is not and labeling it an attempt at government control and power. this has been taken a step further by some members of the organization who have caused incidents by framing companies before they have proof and/or twisting the truth in situations they have caused and using these incidents as 'proof' to further their agenda.the organization seems to deem these deaths as sacrifices for the cause, however, this has officially labeled them a terrorist organization.
